About the

Author

Sharon Denise Powell is a retired Journalist First Class of the United States Navy, a proud mother, and a dedicated historian with a Master’s degree in Psychology. Her journey into military history is deeply personal. Growing up in Eastern North Carolina, she learned about the harsh realities of war from her half-brother, Chief Steward Petty Officer Samuel Powell Jr., who survived the attack on Pearl Harbor aboard the USS Helena.

Driven by a profound sense of duty to her family’s legacy, Sharon has spent decades researching, interviewing, and documenting the overlooked contributions of African American service members. Through her sharp journalistic lens and compassionate storytelling, she gives voice to the “invisible warriors” who fought on two fronts: against fascism abroad, and against segregation at home. Her work ensures their bravery is never forgotten.

INVISIBLE WARRIORS

Uncovering the Hidden Heroes of World War II

“Invisible Warriors” is not just a history book; it is a vital reclamation of truth. From the freezing wilderness of the Alaska Highway to the blood-soaked beaches of Iwo Jima, this meticulously researched narrative shines a light on the Black soldiers, sailors, Marines, and nurses who were systematically erased from mainstream historical accounts.

Sharon Denise Powell weaves together gripping archival research, rare photographs, and intimate interviews with veterans and their families. You will meet the men of the 761st “Black Panther” Tank Battalion, the trailblazing crew of the USS Mason, and everyday heroes like Dorie Miller and Lanier Phillips. This is a raw, unflinching look at the “Double V” campaign—victory against fascism abroad, and victory against racism at home.

A special squad from the local Washington DC police department are seeking to determine the identity of the group and their target. Oddly they receive assistance from an unexpected source. However diligent, even as they join with “The Group”, success will depend on one factor, the target.
